The Data Architect will build the First Federal Enterprise Data Architecture and Framework to help the organization to best approach our data needs and use. This role will report to the Program Manager and play a critical role in the understanding, documentation, maintenance, control, and planning of data consumed by our organization. They will serve as a subject matter expert and perform tasks that contribute to the organization s mission and vision. Daily activities include developing and communicating the enterprise conceptual direction, logical and physical data models based upon industry standards and conventions, governance practices, partnering with information security to ensure compliance with security and privacy mandates. Additional responsibilities include end-to-end data lifecycle management activities, evaluating and recommending new and emerging data management and storage technologies and standards, and ensuring consistency between data management, enterprise storage and all other technical system components. This role encompasses all aspects of data management, conceptual, logical, and physical.
Works with Program Manager to define vision, strategy, and initial standards and principles for data management
Defines standards for naming, describing, governing, managing, transforming, storing, searching, and delivering all data within the enterprise
Serves as a liaison between the data owner, data consumer and governance team
Consult in business process analysis and design, and service delivery, particularly with respect to the use of information, and trends and directions
Develop the First Federal Data Architecture including standards, with usage and reporting guidelines
Communicating and training of data architecture framework and guidelines will be required
Design central repository of data elements for data analysis and reporting
Assisting in aligning business and enterprise initiatives with the Enterprise Architecture
Translate or map business strategy into information, forward looking into how trends will affect the direction
Understands, models, and represents the organizations business requirements in a human consumable manner, as it relates to strategy
Ensure that risk identification and mitigation for data consumption is documented and in compliance
Bachelor s Degree in an appropriate in Computer Science or appropriate area of specialization
5 7 years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies
5 years of data architect & analysis management, integrations & methodologies experience is expected
Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services, enterprise data management, information security, applications development, and cloud-based technologies. Financial Services concepts desired.
Experienced in three or more of the following: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, WebSphere, Cognos, Hadoop, Spark, Java or Python.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, including MS Visio
At least one certification in CMMI, COBIT, ITIL, SCRUM, CDMP, Six Sigma preferred
Strong industry Domain knowledge desired
Able to work independently with minimal leadership, thinks creatively and strategically, focused on results.
Is a great communicator and effective listener
Have a focus on customer service.
The work requires the ability to operate office machines and equipment, such as personal computers, printers, copying machines and telephones. The work requires the ability to communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and others in person and on telephones. Work activities involve combinations of sitting/standing for extended periods.
