Job Description

Software Engineer - Python - AngularThe Data Analytics dev team building out our Web UI application that is being used by our data scientists. You'll be working as a full stack engineer, building data oriented applications as part of a Data Engineering and Data Science function. These applications allow our data engineers and data scientists to operate on hundreds of terabytes of data. The right candidate will have great interpersonal skills and a willingness to go above and beyond when collaborating with Product Management, Engineering and our business partners. Additionally, you should be obsessed with shipping fast, smooth, and seamless user experiences. If this sounds like you please apply.Currently, the team's application is hosted entirely on AWS and uses Angular for the front end, Python/Django with for its API layer, Elasticsearch as a data storage and search engine, Python/Celery for back-end data processing, and various AWS offerings, including CodePipelines, CloudFormation, EC2, and others. In the near future, the team is looking to work with SQS, AWS Lambdas, AWS SageMaker, and data streaming offerings.Responsibilities:Develop front end UI using Angular and the backend using Django and PythonProviding users access to datasets using REST and Python APIsCategorizing, cataloging, cleansing and normalizing of structured and unstructured dataCommunicating with business users and technology stakeholdersQualifications/Skills Required6+ years of experience working in software engineering3+ years of experience working with Python and exposure to Django, Seaborn, NumPy, or Pandas3+ years of experience working with HTML, CSS, and Typescript/JavaScript with proficiency in at least one framework such as Angular 2.0+, React/Redux, or EmberExperience working with relational SQL databases (SQL Server, Postgres)Experience building and consuming RESTful servicesYou can create a fast build pipeline with npm, Gulp, Webpack, or other tools.Experience creating storyboards, user flows, and wireframes to communicate interaction and design ideasMasters or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.Other Qualifications:Excellent listening and communication (both oral and written) skills.Self-starter and critical thinker, takes ownership of own projects and makes improvement suggestions for the entire infrastructure.Proactive, assertive and attentive to details.Can work independently and in a collaborative environment.Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment - strong sense of urgencyExcellent self-management and problem-solving skills.Ability to learn quickly and work on multiple streams of workDesirable skills/experience:Elasticsearch experience is a plusAnsible, Chef, Java, C# etc.AWS serverless offerings is a plusBig data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Kafka, EMR, Redshift Athena is a plusVisual Design tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, InVision)Knowledge of Equity, fixed income, derivatives, futures, FX, or other financial-services instruments
