Developing techniques for V&V and optimization.Developing reduced order models The successfulapplicant will both develop and apply methods for data-driven model reduction,and data fusion between experiments and physics simulations to accelerate analysisof current and future spacecraft technologies. Experience with particular methods is helpful, but diverse systems willrequire various methods, so a firm grasp on the underlying mathematics, andflexibility to learn new methods will prove more important. The multidisciplinary nature and goals of theproject also place a strong emphasis on communicating with research scientistsand management of diverse technical levels and backgrounds. The successful applicant is expected topublish results in peer-reviewed journals, present research at externalconferences, etc.
PhDin Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, MechanicalEngineering, Computer Science and 4 (four) years related experience.
Experiencewith mathematical analysis of dynamical systems, and physics of plasmas, in-spacepropulsion, or similar systems is essential as is experience programming withMatlab, C++, and Python.US Citizenship with ability to obtain a securityclearance
