What You Will Do This position will be filled at either the Quality Assurance Engineer 1/2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. The Standards and Calibration Laboratory is looking for an enthusiastic entry-level metrology engineer. This is a unique opportunity to perform hands-on work with calibration systems used to perform calibrations. We enjoy a diverse and collegial work environment focused on providing exceptional metrology support to the Los Alamos National Laboratory.Quality Assurance Engineer 1 $75,400 - $122,900The successful candidate will be required to use engineering principles and concepts to support metrology projects, activities, and organizational objectives. The successful candidate will be able to integrate engineering and quality concepts and principles to ensure compliance with Federal and local Metrology Program requirements, have an ability to perform hands-on work with calibration systems, equipment, and software.Quality Assurance Engineer 2 $83,300 - $136,200In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level the Metrology Engineer 2 will be required to provide technical leadership to resolve a diverse range of complex problems in support of organizational goals and objectives. The Metrology Engineer 2 will have experience with implementing ISO 17025, supporting and maintaining accreditation, and developing technical calibration procedures. What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Demonstrated knowledge/understanding of engineering concepts applicable to metrology. Ability to apply technically sound methods to equipment/instrumentation, and to apply technology-aided tools to resolve calibration problems. Knowledge of system/instrumentation operation and maintenance, metrology or engineering calculations, and applications of engineering methods to dimensional, electrical, or physical measurements. Demonstrated ability to work well independently as well as in teams to get projects accomplished on time. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally. Additional Job Requirements for Quality Assurance Engineer 2:In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires: Demonstrated experience applying engineering-based solutions to commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation such as calibration measurement systems/instrumentation and software. Demonstrated experience applying quality requirements, such as ISO17025 or similar, to technical work product in a results-driven environment. Demonstrated experience identifying, developing, and implementing technical projects and/or improvements supporting organizational goals. Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Industrial Systems Engineering and 1 year of related experience.Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Industrial Systems Engineering and 5 years of related experience.Note to Applicants:Please provide a comprehensive cover letter addressing each of the requirements (minimum and desired) noted in the job posting along with your resume.
