Ability to drive advanced levels of test planning, execution and quality reporting of software applications through project engagements and sustaining software test activities. This includes the creation of automated test cases and test execution plans. Organizes and executes test activities to ensure applications meet GM IT standards for quality, security, performance and architecture requirements.The Senior Performance Test Engineer will work closely with developers, testers, and business owners to ensure software quality through automated performance testing. The Performance Engineer will contribute to the full SDLC by being active through requirements, architecture, design, development, testing, and support. You will be responsible for performance test case creation, performance test execution/analysis, and reporting to ensure applications meet GM IT standards for quality, security, and performance.The Performance Engineer role requires knowledge in software engineering practices, the creation of test process artifacts, development of performance automation scripts, capacity of application, system, infrastructure, database and network components.Manages work across multiple projects.Mentors junior testers through project-related conflict resolution.Serves as a mentor to less experienced staff.Initiates changes across the team and organization to improve processes and standards.Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors.Models GM behaviors and builds a winning culture.Performs other related duties as assigned.Additional Job DescriptionQualifications:Awareness of multiple software development and testing methodologies and ability to operate in a fast-moving environment across multiple disciplinesTechnical skills through demonstrated roles in performance engineering, test automation and software developmentExperience in HP ALM/Performance center and Load runnerExperience in one or more of the following technical areasMicrosoft .NET / SQL performance tuningOracle DB performance tuning AWR analysis, Java / J2EE performance tuning JVM Tuning, Garbage collection analysis Performance measurement and tuning tools (i.e.-Dynatrace) software development.Knowledge on Content delivery Networks like AkamaiA proven proficiency in technical disciplines in software development and performance verification/ TuningProven analytical skillsAdvanced ability to drive project teams through software quality engagements.Advanced ability to drive closure on ambiguities found from reviewing business and software requirements.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.5+ years of experience in a Senior Performance Test Engineer role leading testing teamsExperience optimizing processesExperience leading, coaching, or mentoring teamsIdentifies areas of concern and implements process improvementsPrimarily self-directedPassion to help and coach othersWe are not able to accommodate international relocationBenefits OverviewThe goal of the General Motors total rewards program is to support the health and well-being of you and your family.
