Job Description

Job Summary: This position is supporting the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Security Operations Center (SOC) that is supporting the Network, Phones and Video Conferencing functionality of the Defense Commissary Agency at their headquarters and at all their stores both CONUS and OCONUS.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts sites surveys; assesses and documents current site network configuration and user requirements. Designs and optimize network topologies. Analyzes existing requirements and prepares specifications for hardware/software acquisitions. Prepares engineering plans and site installation Technical Design Packages. Develops hardware/software installation schedules. Prepares drawings documenting configuration changes at each site. Prepares site installation and test reports. Configures computers, communications devices and peripheral equipment. Installs network hardware/software. Trains site personnel in proper use of hardware/software. Builds specialized interconnecting cables. Performs first line support for service interruptions such as printer routings, power outages, wiring problems, and malfunctioning servers. Escalates unresolved problems to expedite resolution.

Technical Skills Required:
Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
Hands-on experience with common software and hardware
Ability to set up and configure network hardware
Familiarity with network architecture interconnection and methodologies
Familiarity with troubleshooting, installing and configuring Network equipment
Familiarity with troubleshooting, installing and configuring VOIP equipment
Familiarity with using an incident tracking system
Competencies Required:
Familiarity with networking technology understanding how networking technologies work and the ability to replace and install routers, switches, and other equipment
Customer service resolving customer networking issues in a timely and successful manner
Troubleshooting Employ troubleshooting skills for nearly every phone call to determine the cause of network issues
Analytical thinking analyzing given information about network problems to arrive at real solutions
Problem-solving skills after diagnosing network problems, use this skill to provide effective resolutions
Communication skills strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for conversing with other technicians, clients, vendors, and managers; listening skills are needed to understand client concerns and issues
Contract Required Clearance:
Required: Security + CE
Preferred: Network +, CCNA
Minimum Level of Education: BA/BS with 3 years experience
