Scientific Games' global reach is made possible through the expertise, skill and dedicated efforts of its 8,000+ employees who serve lottery and gaming customers in more than 100+ countries on 6 continents.Position SummaryThe Advanced Data Engineer is responsible for architecting and developing a scalable global analytics Enterprise Data Warehouse EDW that will serve as the backbone of all reporting and dashboards for the new Analytics CoE. The Advanced Data Engineer will need to develop an on-prem solution initially, then later lead a migration effort to a cloud-based solution. This role will work with the analytics team and other internal customers to understand business requirements and translate that into a data model implemented in the database. This role will be the lead for developing and administering the database environment and applicable ETL processes enabling its success and serve as key contributor in developing our overall data strategy. An Advanced Data Engineer is should have a strong background in data and the capacity to translate business needs into a technical footprint.Essential Job Functions:Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliabilityDevelop database architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address business or industry requirementsCollaborate with system architects, software architects, design analysts, and others to understand business or industry requirementsDevelop data models for applications, metadata tables, views or related database structuresSet up database clusters, backup, or recovery processesCreate stored procedures, views, functions, tables, and ensure their stability, reliability, and performanceWrite and optimize SQL statements for data access and retentionTest databases for performance, fine-tune when necessaryCollaborate with developers on database design, query tuning, and schema refinementRespond to feedback from users regarding performance and work with developers to improve the performance of queries and indexesTune T-SQL queries and stored procedures to improve performance and sustainabilityProvide support for the deployment of database scripts in development, test, pre-production, and production environmentsMonitor database performance parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end usersReview and learn about the data structures and data storage of company applicationsContinually focus on updating technical knowledge and skillsRefine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changesAssist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinementPerform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activitiesShare domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team membersPerforms all other related duties as assignedQualificationsExperience:10+ Years - Developer in Microsoft SQL Server database environment5+ Years - ETL processesEducation:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experienceKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Must be an expert in the following:SQLDDLDMLData ModelingData AcquisitionQuery Optimization/TuningDebuggingStrong background in data and the capacity to translate business needs into a technical footprintPreferred:Gaming Industry experience is a plusCloud database experienceOther coding languages:VBAVBPHPCSSJava/JavaScriptPhysical Requirements: In-office and remote work environmentsWork Conditions: Based in the Las Vegas office with the ability to travel.
