Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Sr Backup Administrator will be responsible for the administration of semantic net backup appliances and data domain platforms as well as developing backup policies and data recovery. The role is primarily responsible for fulfilling day to day backup operations and backup / recovery, jobs monitoring and troubleshooting failures. In addition, has accountability for ensuring data integrity, and providing detailed documentation of operational procedures.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.Works with (Symantec) VERITAS NetBackup x.x in a large mixed environment of both windows and UNIX servers.
Ability to build and design backup infrastructure and working knowledge of ACSIS software
Ability to manage multiple tape libraries of backup infrastructure.
Sr Backup Administrator will be responsible participating in 24/7 on call rotation
Understands and has excellent knowledge and skills to trouble shoot NetBackup issues, tape issues, storage issues, and knowledge of brocade encryption switches.
Needs to understand and monitor disk staging units (DSSU?s).
Needs to be proficient in NetBackup tape management, including volume groups, pools, retention policies, vaulting and duplication.
Needs to be proficient in NetBackup policies and schedules, have the ability to create policies, and work with defined schedules is a must.
Ability to work independently and to work on call rotation is a must.
Must thoroughly understand NetBackup through command line and through the GUI.
Must understand UNIX commands, and understand how to troubleshoot backup issues on both windows servers, and UNIX servers.
Working knowledge of inline encryption methodologies.
Fully understand live key management from netapp (lkm)
Knowledge of tidal or other scheduling software would be helpful.
Must follow established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management processes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Ability to read, writes, speak and understand English
Proficiency with Unix/Linux shell scripts
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Education
Bachelor's degree (b. s.) from four-year College or University; or 5 to 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related Work Experience
Experience in Backup Recovery Tools ? 5 years
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in Unix/Linux and windows operating systems
Experience in shell or PowerShell scripting
Experience in developing operational reports
Experience in networking knowledge
Experience in managing large database backups and recovery
Experience in oracle and mssql server databases
Education
Bachelor's degree (b. s.) from four-year College or University; or 5 to 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related Work Experience
Experience in Symantec NetBackup ? 5 years
