Senior Back End Software Development Engineer, (Listing Enhancements and Photos) - Remote Position

About the team

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Listings Enhancement and Photos (LEAP) team. We are responsible for data that is at the core of all Zillow listings, so your work will significantly impact customer happiness. We need an outstanding teammate with a real passion for ownership of sophisticated problems and the end-to-end implementation of their solutions. In this role, you will:

• Support real estate listings and improving the quality of listing data for Zillow Group brands
• Write performance-minded, highly-readable code using object-oriented design standards
• Iterate quickly and ship code frequently
• Develop faster and innovative ways to process data
• Collaborate with business leadership, product management, and others to achieve your technical vision
• Contribute to the entire development lifecycle, from concept to release

About the role

Our team builds a comprehensive quality set of listings on Zillow at the fastest possible speed. We own the systems that process millions of listings and their photos each day, contributing directly to Zillow's site experience and bottom line. This role has been categorized as a Remote position. "Remote" employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.

Who you are

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or 10+ years equivalent experience
• 5+ years' experience in software development in object-oriented languages like Java, Python, or C# (we use Java mostly)
• Experience solving performance and scalability problems
• Experience with relational databases (we use SQL)
• Familiarity with AWS technologies (Elastic Beanstalk, SNS, SQS, S3)
• Experience with stream processing technologies (e.g. Flink, Kafka) is a huge plus
• Strong sense of ownership
• Excellent collaboration skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
• Demonstrated flexibility, high energy and openness to innovative approaches
