Job Description

TuneCore Engineering develops web applications in the music space, supporting both our talented customers, and internal operations. We?re looking for a hands-on DBA & technologist to join our fast-growing DevOps team, and help drive the modernization, performance, and resiliency of our ever-growing data layer. We?re a small team with a large impact and wear a lot of different hats, so you will be instrumental in advancing our usage of data in ways that add value to the company?s goals. This position will also be heavily involved in the implementation of security frameworks, and process improvement initiatives organization-wide.Responsibilities:+ Build, grow, and maintain our cloud-based database architecture and infrastructure+ Develop processes for optimizing database integrity, performance, and security+ Collaborate closely with our Engineering Team to design data models and schemas for our applications, and help to instill best practices when it comes to modeling, and security+ Collaborate closely with our Data Team on ETL and Data Warehousing initiatives+ Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors+ Recommend and implement emerging database technologies+ Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards+ Build automation for repeating database tasks+ The ideal candidate will have strong experience in containerized cloud architectures for delivery on the web, love solving complex problems, and automating ?all the things"+ You?ll approach tasks with both a fault-tolerant and performance-oriented mindset, and have the ability to learn on the fly and pick things up quickly+ You?ll be mindful of best design and security practices, be an excellent communicator who is able to work closely with DevOps, IT, Engineering, Product and Data teams, be a champion of "DevOps culture," and enjoy working in a fun and diverse environment+ If you?re a ninja, that?s cool too!Experience:+ Extensive experience with MariaDB, MySQL, Percona toolkit, PostgreSQL+ Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)+ Highly comfortable operating in a Linux environment (we're a 100% Linux shop)+ Well versed in database performance tuning and creating stored procedures+ Skilled in Replication, Backup and Recovery (including Point-in-Time)+ Strong SQL query tuning experience: Adding/removing indexes, rewriting queries for better performance+ Hands-on experience with sharding and partitioning databases and tables+ InnoDB and myISAM tuning and migrations+ Approach tasks with both fault-tolerant and securityfocused mindsets+ The ability to learn on the fly, and pick things up quickly+ More than 7 years of experience working within a Database Administration capacity, building, tuning, and maintaining databases+ Demonstrated history of maintaining production platforms, and identifying opportunities to improve, scale, and provide resiliency in disaster recovery+ Experience monitoring for, and responding to critical incidents+ You love to keep up with the latest technologies, and are willing to present ideas to the team+ Contribute to a dynamic environment of collaboration, and perform under pressure with a sense of humor+ BS/BA degreeNice to Haves:+ NoSQL Database experience (MongoDB, Dynamo, Redis, Couchbase etc.)+ Data Warehousing/ETL Scripting experience
