So, we ask, where will your journey take you?JOBSUMMARYThe IT Architect Property Networks is responsible for architectingefficient and optimal networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide areanetworks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, software defined networks, and otherdata communications systems in support of the Property Network, connecting7400+ properties globally to Marriott International (MI) applications andservices. As part of a high performingteam of network technologists, the IT Architect leads technical workgroups, resolvesand makes decisions on complex and high-risk issues, performs research, analysis,design, creation, and implementation of infrastructure systems to meet currentand future user requirements in support of the development and management ofthe network products and services that connect our properties, as well assupporting local property LAN services (guest WIFI, back office, POS, etc.)across the globe. This role isaccountable for leading cross team relationships and partnering with allbusiness disciplines, other MI teams, outsourcing vendors, and externalsuppliers to define and implement the Property Networks roadmap, building andenforcing the standards defined in it.This position will also lead to define and support service delivery andoperational support standards for our Property Networks, partner with theglobal technology peer teams to meet service level requirements and resolveservice delivery issues across the portfolio. Reporting to the Sr Director of Property Networks, this key position is responsibleto ensure overall requirements by customers and peer delivery and operationsgroups are met. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: continentalIT executives, property LAN service providers (LSPs), end-user computingservices delivery, hosting services, enterprise availability, server, storage,virtualization, inclusive of security/privacy, risk management, and disasterand crisis management. The successfulcandidate will provide senior technical engagement for all phases of theinfrastructure lifecycle from ideation through execution, and ongoingmanagement and support of the end-to-end network servicing all Marriott PropertyNetwork systems. (S)/He will develop and execute new initiatives to simplify,standardize, optimize, and automate the network designs, tooling, andoperations to reduce implementation cycle times, eliminate service downtime,optimize performance, and ensure that all security and compliance requirementsare fully governed.CANDIDATEPROFILEMinimumQualificationsBachelors degree in Computer Science or relatedtechnical field experience/certification10+ years experience as a NetworkEngineer with 7 or greater years in a hands-on role that implements engineeringstandards, documenting engineering designs, and participating in projectcutovers.7 years experience in an ITinfrastructure lead role that include:Implementation of WAN, LAN, anddatacenter networks with a focus on mission-critical, customer-facingapplications and servicesTechnical knowledge in networking (Ciscoand non-Cisco) with an emphasis on software-defined networks (SDN) andleveraging spine & leaf designs, load balancing, firewalls, security design(intrusion detection and prevention), DNS, NTP, Network Tools & ManagementTechnical knowledge common routingprotocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), IPv6, VPN, etc. across a global distributednetwork hands-on experience with the datacenter fabric platforms (Cisco,Arista, or equivalent) hands-on experience with common routing and switchingplatforms (Cisco, Juniper, HP/Aruba etc.)Deep experience in WAN and campus LAN design andimplementation, preferably with a focus on hotel property networksExperience with automating network functionsthrough tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or TerraformExperience with writing Python applications tosupport network automationUnderstanding of legacy networking routingprotocols and the interaction with cloud interconnectsExperience with network load balancers, WANoptimizers, and Network virtualization.Technical knowledge and experience withtelco and ISP networks, ensuring diversity and managing availabilityDemonstrated experience in deliveringwritten documents detailing network solutions and diagrams5+ years experience with high availability planning,component redundancy design and implementation5+ years experience in designing large-scaleenterprise network interconnectivity with cloud providers using standard bestpracticesAbility to work non-standard hours during changeimplementationsPreferredQualificationsAdvanced Degree (e.g., MS, PhD) in Computer Scienceor other technical discipline or MBA, preferably with a focus ontechnology10+ years experience managing large, globallydistributed network architecture, engineering, and/or operations teams andleveraging next-generation network designs and technologies to supportlarge-scale deploymentsProven track record of driving transformation innetwork technologies, tools, and processes through a data-driven continuousimprovement methodologyDemonstrated experience in improving security,stability, reliability, performance, and agility of complex enterprise networksStrong technical knowledge of foundationalnetworking technologies and solid understanding of the software-defined networking(SDN) ecosystemStrong understanding of network infrastructureautomation, instrumentation, and monitoring platforms and the emergingtechnologies in this areaExperience in setting up virtual private clouds inpublic cloud infrastructure such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, AlibabaCloud, or Google Cloud PlatformExperience with designing and engineeringconnectivity to public cloud providers utilizing technologies such as AWSDirect Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, Google Dedicated Interconnect, or OracleFastConnectProven experience leading highly effectivetechnical teams through major technology and organizational changeProven experience re-engineering complexInternet-based network designs to optimize for services and applications thatare sensitive to network turbulence (e.g., latency, jitter, loss)Proven experience driving operational performancethrough defining and enforcing Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery PointObjective (RPO) Service Level Agreements (SLAs)Experience driving and/or significantlyparticipating in vendor RFPs for network products (e.g., hardware, software,tools, telco, services)Experience managing or working in the servicessourcing and/or ITO or LSP fieldCertification in network and/or securitytechnologies (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, etc.)Experience in researching emerging technologies andtrends, standards, and products and synthesizing into clear technology roadmapsand s
