In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.Learn more about this agencyResponsibilitiesThis position serves as a Supervisory Information Technology (IT) Specialist in headquarters within the Office of Management and Administration (OMA), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).As a Supervisory IT Specialist, you will:* Plan, direct, control, and supervise office which is staffed with subordinate supervisory and non-supervisory IT employees.* Direct software development and design efforts in areas which require extensive and intensive knowledge of accounting, mathematics and statistics, and computers; and may have substantial impact on various highly visible programs.* Initiate and direct special and continuing studies to test, adjust, or improve existing computer software, or devise and implement new software of great complexity.* Assign and coordinate the work of the assigned section to diagnose sources of application-associated issues and to develop and implement corrective actions.* Apply business requirements of customer organizations; systems development principles and approaches; customer support principles, methods, and practices; and project management methods sufficient to lead IT systems development projects from design to support; evaluate the effectiveness of installed systems and services; and provide advice on and devise solutions to a wide range of IT issues.Travel Required25% or less - Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your rsum.QualificationsYou must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.Specialized experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:* Planning and directing applications development staff who develop and implement solutions to address customer and enterprise needs; AND* Planning and directing applications development staff who are responsible for software development using no-code/low-code SaaS/PaaS cloud environments; AND* Experience advising high-ranking officials on the quality and fitness of technical products to meet business requirements, technical standards, and industry best practices; AND* Experience with leveraging agile software development (e.g. Scrum) tasks related to software implementation, including coordination of implementation activities with customers).In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.Education
