Job Description:Description: Entry Level QA Technician position for a Food Manufacturer. Preform processes to assure effective operation and control and to verify compliance with established standard practices. About Heritage Specialty Foods: Our company is comprised of two local families and two generations who are joined together by the same mission of supporting our customers with naturally fresh, kettle cooked foods for retail and food service operations. With over 30 years of experience in fresh food manufacturing, we understand the intricate and delicate balance of taking a recipe and producing it on a grand scale while still maintaining the recipe's integrity. We take full advantage of the abundance of local ingredients available to us in Portland to create our soups, chilis, chowders, entres, sauces, marinades, and puddings also including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options and are looking for someone who relates to our company culture to join the team! .Requirements: * Be competent to implement and maintain HACCP based food safety plans and documents. * Ensuring sanitation standards are met, overseeing cleanup procedures for compliance. * Report problems or inconsistencies with any procedure to supervisors or management. * Follow up with employees regarding HACCP paperwork completeness and accuracy. * Proactively look for ways to improve and in all areas of production. * Assist in any and all areas of the facility. * Identify affected inventory in production to ensure it is physically located and accounted for. * Quarantine affected product. * Inform production team and keep them updated as necessary. * Completion of HACCP paperwork - Daily, Weekly, Monthly, quarterly; verify that it is completed and turned in. * Verifies HACCP forms and checks for accuracy and completeness. * Completes daily sanitation, facility, and quality check documents. * Works with managers to make claims on damaged or nonconforming product received at facility. * Meets with team leaders during shift to determine needs; to answer questions regarding production or quality troubleshooting. * Weekly Thermometer verification checks. * Weekly pH meter calibration. * Monitors temperature of coolers and freezers routinely throughout week. * Routine swabbing and good sampling practices. * Perform monthly internal audits with QA manager to ensure all Food Safety procedures are being completed correctly. * Lot tracking. * Help Maintain the Organic, Kosher, and Non-GMO programs. Quality Assurance Technician Qualifications: * Previous related experience preferred. * Attention to detail is a must. * Comfortable working with numbers and understanding local and federal food regulations. * Communication skills along with strong positive demeanor. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. * High School diploma/GED preferred. * Must be authorized to work in the United States.
