Job Description
The Product Development Manager is responsible for managing and executing the product development pipeline and timeline from research and concept phase, through to launch and distribution. Creativity, strategic thinking, and acute attention to detail are key qualities required of the position. This person interfaces with brand founders, product consultants, chemists, labs, vendors, suppliers, operations and finance, with the authority and accountability to give any of them a "push" to ensure timelines, quality standards, and COG targets are met.
Product Development Manager will:
Establish and manage timelines for all developing products.
Create PDR briefs, assign tasks, and record meeting minutes for all product development discussions.
Source and vet ingredient suppliers based on parameters/requisites given by product team.
Maintain physical and digital database of all product and material documentation, including COA, MSDS, NDA, licenses, receipts of purchase, and lab or product regulatory compliance documents.
Research, compile data, and deliver reporting on any requested product performance metrics.
Negotiate and procure manufacturing and supply contracts, equipment and consultants, as needed.
Perform cost analyses with recommendations.
Responsible for final proofing of labels and marketing materials for technical accuracy, fact-checking, typos, design incongruence, etc.
Help maintain order, cleanliness, supply, and function of entire lab and office premises.
Stay abreast of regulatory requirements for products and lab premises and apply for, or keep up to date, any required certificates or licenses.
Requirements
2+ years experience in Project Management, preferrably skin care.
Experience as a senior manager/supervisor of a team.
Acute attention to detail.
Excellent physical and digital organization skills and data hygiene.
Relevant skincare development experience.
Proficient knowledge of supply chain, COG margins, and regulatory (domestic and international).
Proven project management skills to deliver timelines and budgets to plan.
Strong analytical skills.
