Job Description

The Graduate Studies Business Analyst is responsible for providing data and analysis for decision-making, strategic planning, accreditation, program effectiveness monitoring, and policy implementation, and for maintaining data quality. This position works collaboratively across SOM programs and academic operations for the design, collection, analysis, and reporting of student and program information required by national, regional, institutional, and departmental review and evaluation. The SOM Office of Graduate Studies includes over 30 graduate programs with unique data management and reporting requirements.The analyst performs and coordinates unit-level research in the areas of student retention/attrition, student success, student funding analysis, enrollment management, student satisfaction, student-mentor relationships, post-graduation success, recruitment/admissions outcomes, course and teaching performance, equity and inclusion, and resource utilization. The analyst also ensures data quality and validity by developing, documenting, and socializing data collection, entry, analysis, and reporting standards and protocols. Responsibilities include:Design and execute research projects to assess the performance of Grad Studies programsAnalyze data, draw conclusions from analysis, explain significance of program performance trends, describe policy/performance implications, recommend actions/interventions and future studiesManage analysis projects to improve data quality and access by leading cross-functional teams, developing project plans, scheduling team meetings, assigning tasks, reporting project progress, and revising plan to meet project objectivesGather and prepare program data for external data requestsEnsure data standards and protocols for gathering, analyzing, reporting, and sharing data. Write help documentation.Assist with SOM events such as Commencement, Graduate Student Organization events, Research Week, etc.Other duties as necessary and assignedBachelors degree in an education, science, or business field and one year of experience that includes analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR Associate's degree in a business field plus three years of experience that includes analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR Five years of experience that includes analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experienceExperience with statistical software, web-development and maintenanceAdvanced knowledge of qualitative research methods, survey design, sampling, implementation procedures, statistical analysis, survey reporting and ethical standardsExperience in research or program evaulationExperience with accurate maintenance of academic, admission, financial aid or advising records using a relational database systemExperience in systems/report design and implementationExperience with with professional written and oral communications suitable for varied audiences (students, business, OHSU leadership, faculty, etc.)Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.)Advanced knowledge of a relational database system, such as Banner or a similar Student Information SystemDemonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance at past and present employersBachelors or Masters degree in statistics, higher education administration, business, science economics or other related fieldExperience working in a Registrar, Admission, Financial Aid or Advising department of a higher education institutionExperience working with NIH and NSF grant reporting Oregon Health & Science University values a diverse and culturally competent workforce.
