Job Description

The Total Compensation Team is responsible for processing and maintaining full cycle, bi-weekly multi province CDN and multi state US payroll for all the JOEY, LOCAL and SALTLIK locations which consists of approximately 6,000 employees. We are also responsible for administration of our CDN group benefits plan. Our main purpose is to support internal stakeholders by ensuring timely and accurate payments as well as execution with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism.

This position reports to the Payroll & Benefits Supervisor and is responsible for supporting the team with various payroll and benefit related matters. A passion for detail, accuracy and customer service is a main drive.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Prepares reports for the Operations team
  • Assisting with full-cycle payroll processing and balancing
  • Prepare and upload ROE records
  • Work with internal stakeholders on payroll inquiries as well as outside agencies such as CRA, Service Canada, WCB, WSIB etc.
  • Works closely with store level operators to provide information and troubleshooting when required
  • Compile spreadsheets and reports as required by the department
  • Assist with other tasks and projects as required by the Total Compensation Team

  • Minimum Grade 12 education, especially mathematic skills
  • Has an interest in pursuing a career in Payroll or Total Compensation
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Entrepreneurial in their approach to work and takes preliminary steps to do what needs to be done without outside direction; shows genuine willingness to be held accountable for successes and failures; seeks out and engages in self-improvement
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize diverse requirements
  • Proven aptitude for quick creative and technical thinking with acute attention to detail
  • Proven track record of high productivity, the ability to work effectively under pressure and ensure deadlines are met
  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain discretion and strict confidentiality
  • Outgoing personality with the ability to develop relationships with a broad mix of people through awareness of the audience and the flexibility to adapt to the environment
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills within a team setting used for brainstorming, problem solving and creation of projects
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills
  • Canadian Payroll experience is a strong asset
