RN, NICU/couplet Care - PRN Nights

Other Qualifications * Knowledge of general nursing theories and practice * Previous hospital experience preferred * Able to effectively motivate and supervise others. * Able to utilize initiative and independent action when required within the scope of professional nursing practice * Able to utilize good judgment in evaluating alternatives in difficult situations. * Able to work with the realization that errors in receiving and transcribing order, giving medications, treatments, or performing other procedures or performing supervisory duties could have detrimental effects to the patients. * Good written and verbal communications skills * Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with physicians, patients and family members personnel * Discretion is required in handling confidential information * Able to work irregular schedules, weekends and holiday due to staffing and census fluctuations * Able to assume the role of a Charge Nurse as needed/requested Education * Current unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina * One year of prior Level II/Level III Nursery experience preferred * BSN preferred * Successful completion of nursing service orientation program * Attends IV Therapy training and/or demonstrates competency in intravenous therapy within one year * NRP obtained within orientation and/or certification specific to departmental requirements * Must have current BCLS certifications * Advanced certification in specialty field and/or participation in professional organization(s) encouraged Supervisory Responsibilities None Work Environment Category 1-2 Blood Exposure Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated and ventilated hospital complex. Subject to personal injury when involved in restraint care of hostile, combative patients and family members. Subject to exposure to communicable diseases and infections. Subject to exposure to radiation in assisting with x-ray procedures on critical patients. Subject to cuts, punctures, and electrical shock when utilizing various equipment and supplies. Subject to muscular strain when lifting, moving, turning and transporting patients. Stands and walks throughout the day. Assists in lifting, moving, turning, restraining, and transporting patients. Utilizes a variety of standard nursing equipment/supplies, and maintains competency in their operation.
