Those knife skills, line skills and food prep skills are certainly important; however, you also need to be able to precisely follow a recipe, balance food needs with daily patient counts, and oversee cafeteria service. It s a fast-paced kitchen where the ability to cook well and strictly follow guidelines is important. Are you good at time management and following a schedule? Do you work well with others? Are you dependable? Do you love cooking? We ve got a kitchen that needs you. WHAT YOU WILL DO Label and date food products according to established procedures. Manage supplies and resources to minimize waste. Meet schedules and time requirements for food preparation. Practice safe food handling techniques. Prepare and cook/bake food according to standardized recipes. Ensure food products meet quality standards for taste and appearance. Ensure proper usage of kitchen equipment including combi-ovens, slicers, steamers, and mixers. Follow production sheets to ensure correct quantities are made and available to all service areas. Follow sanitation guidelines of federal, state, and HFAP regulatory agencies. WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED Prior Institutional Cooking/Food Service experience. Adapt to high volume and high stress areas. Adapt and respond quickly to changing priorities. Maintain composure, even in very difficult situations. Basic computer skills with software, hardware, and communication devices to perform tasks. Demonstrate basic cooking/baking skills. Customer service skills. Equipment maintenance and repair. Follow directions as communicated in a variety of ways. Follow recipes. Work independently with minimal supervision. Infection control knowledge. Knowledge of kitchen equipment; slicer, mixer, combi-oven, steamer, measuring tools. Handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
